Despite this Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism Programme as a University Launched in February 2018 at Djibouti, the Federation of Somalia Universities (FESU) thrilled to announce their membership to the federation.
There are several universities and organizations even globally that focus on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE), including:
Georgetown University – Qatar: Part of the Doha Youth Parliamentary Forum on Counter-Terrorism, this university hosts seminars on PCVE topics.
Coventry University: Has a team that focuses on PCVE research. As result of that its work on PVE and CVE examines how such programmes can contribute to the creation of safer and more peaceful societies, but also the challenges and risks.
United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT): Offers the Behavioral Insights Academy (BI Academy), a training program that teaches people how to use behavioral insights to prevent and counter PCVE. UNOCT also has a Global PCVE Programme that aims to improve the capacity of member states, UN entities, and civil society.
The IGAD region based Centre of Excellence for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (ICEPCVE) in which collaborates with partners involved in preventing and countering violent extremism in the region to ensure an inclusive and holistic approach.
PCVE refers to policies and initiatives that aim to prevent and counter radicalization and recruitment into violent extremism and terrorism. The concept of Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) became more popular after the 9/11 attacks and is a holistic approach to fighting terrorism.

The PCVE University of Somalia (PUS) was officially launched during the inaugurated IGAD Centre of Excellence for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (ICEPCVE) in April 2018.
